Income Verification for OPERS Benefit Recipients

During retirement there may be times when you need to show proof of your monthly benefit amount. OPERS can provide two types of reports:

  1. Income Verification Letter

If you want to rent a home or take out a mortgage or open a new bank account, you'll need to show proof of your income with an Income Verification Letter.

An income verification letter details how much you've received from OPERS for a specific month.

Reasons why you may need an Income Verification Letter include:

    • Government Assistance (housing)
    • Applying for a mortgage, car loan, etc.
    • Stating how long recipient's pension benefit will be payable.
  2. Income Verification History

Benefit recipients can also request an Income Verification History. An Income Verification History shows a more detailed history of your income and includes all past cost-of-living adjustments. Please allow for additional processing time when requesting an Income Verification History.

You can request an Income Verification History as far back as seven years.

Reasons why you may need an Income Verification History include:

    • Social Security inquiries
    • Medicare A reimbursement
